Competition Rules
1.- CATEGORIES:
‹ Best Short Film as voted by the Public
The
winner will be decided after counting the votes from the public the day
the finalists are screened at the Teatro Principal. We will also take
in to account the stoke level that the noise meter will record after
each short film is being screened.
‹ Jury’s Favourite
‹ Prize for the Best Short Film in Basque language
‹ Prize for the Best Environmental Short Film
‹ Prize for the Best Animation Short Film
‹ Prize for the Best GO PRO Short Film
The
Jury will be formed by a mix of legendary surfers, freaks and film
industry professionals. The organization will announce the members of
the Jury shortly.
2.- REQUISITES
The organization
will check every single short film before it is accepted. The short
film will be admitted to the competition when the organization uploads
it on the Youtube and Dalimymotion official channels. To be accepted,
the short films must comply with the following requisites, which are
valid for all the categories:
‹ The maximum total length of the short film cannot exceed 5 minutes.
‹ The theme of the short film must be related to surfing somehow, even if it’s not explicitly (check finalists 2008 edition).
‹
All formats (16mm, 35mm, betacam) are accepted. Please send only .wmv
or .mov files and in a 1280x720 pixels resolution. The files cannot
exceed 100MB.
‹ Fill the entry form that you will find on
our website (www.surfilmfestibal.com) and send it by e-mail (same
address). Please also send a .jpeg or similar file about your short
film.
‹ Send the files by e-mail (via yousendit.com) to
cortos@surfilmfestibal.com. Upon acceptance the organization will
upload the short film to the Youtube and Dailymotion official channels.
‹
In order to enter the competition all short films must have been
received by the organization before the 00:00 hours of the 16 May 2009.
‹ Any same short film is eligible to win in more than one category.
‹ There is no limit to the number of short films that a person can send.
3. OTHER ASPECTS
‹ The prizes for each category will be announced on the website on March 15.
‹
The directors of the selected finalist short films will be informed -
once the jury has watched all the short films-, between May 16 and June
1st.
4. LEGAL ASPECTS
‹ The Surfilmfestibal shall
never be held responsible for any songs, sounds or images copyrighted
by someone else but the author of the short film that enters the
competition. The author of the short film will be the sole responsible
for copyright infringement.
‹ All the authors, by submitting
their short films to the competition, are automatically transferring
reproduction rights to the organization so we can all enjoy them in as
many ways as possible (media, surfari surf festibal, etc.). If a
contestant chooses to hand his/her short clip recorded on a cd/dvd or
any other piece of hardware, this item will also become part of the
festival and shall not be returned.
‹ The surfilmfestibal
does not endorse nor take as its own the implicit messages contained in
any of the short films. These express the views and opinions of the
author(-s) of the clip solely.
‹ As you very well know, the
simple fact of submitting a clip to the surfilmfestibal implies the
tacit acceptance of its rules. The Organization shall decide about any
unforeseen aspects and reserve the right to modify the rules at any
