The Next Wave is an event we’ve got planned for Saturday 27th June. It’s a tribute to surfing’s beginnings in the Iberian peninsular — a pause along the way to reflect on where all of this around us came from and to pass it on to present and future generations.

Not only do we want to gather surfers young and old together at the beach, we also mean to get everyone surfing on the original boards of yesteryear. That means original surfboards from the 60s, 70s and 80s only, and no replicas or modern day boards for once! We’re therefore asking people to dust off the old gems they’ve got stored away in their basements, and to bring them to the beach and back to life.

We will be holding an EXPRESSION SESSION a fun competition format, with only old boards allowed and 6-man heats in the following categories: Sensei (Masters), Super Woman, ‘Neither One Nor the Other’ and #izanezberdin for groms between the ages of 12 and 17. But there will also be fun and games on the beach, frisbee tournaments, competitions for the best board and ugliest swim suit, book giveaways…. And of course, music! VillalegreRecordings y Johan Wald will be bringing us their ‘Disco Tropical Party’, which will start on the beach and continue from midnight onwards at Dabadaba.

Furthermore, thanks to our collaboration with Kuxa Fundazioa and its #izanezberdin initiative, surfers between the ages of 12 and 17 will be able to enter the competition for free, or enjoy the complimentary beginner lessons in surfing and photography we’ll be offering. 

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, old school and new school, all of you are invited to the fun-filled shred-fest!

We’ve put in an order for good waves and good weather…. so HASTA LA VISTA SURFISTA!

Contest schedule (if you want to join the contest you must inscribe right at the beach before 10h)
10.00-13.00. 20min heats, 6 surfers per heat
13.00-15.00. We go for food!!
15.00-19.00. Finals of 30min each
19.00. Awards ceremony!

Registration will be available on the 27th righ on the beach before 10am. Price is 12€ and includes: tshirt, food & drink, and some nice give aways!
