SURF INDY: Films, photography, music and tasty food!
An original, eclectic and savoury program, at one of our favorite spots!
Sunset at the magic Guardetxe. After five years, we’re back at one if our favourite spots! We have cooked an original, unique, tasty program. One more time, we have added some Japanese surf culture to the menu, JapaNing is the name of our proposal, designed by our friend Kurando. Surf cinema from Japan, bizarre short-films, music, photography and last but not least, Japanese artists and activists who will tell us about the situation in their country, a year and a half after the terrible tsunami, earthquake and nuclear disaster.
We’ll be screening a selection of short-films by Igor Bellido, as well as some clips from Smile, some amazing and unknown footage from our coast in the 70s and 80s…

The title is inspired in Kepa Acero’s “5 Waves, 5 Continents”
A while ago, I spent a rainy weekend watching in Youtube music video-clips with fake surf footage, from bands who make the most of this lifestyle’s hype –like those crappy TV commercials- to add a touch of character to their public image, which in fact has nothing to do with this beautiful sport.
That’s when I came up with the idea of making 5 true surf videos, with 5 new songs by Smile, a band that has always had a strong link with surfing.
People who have a very strong link with the surfing scene, in one way or another, have participated in the making of these videos.
